Business Development Highlight

Innovate. Collaborate. Celebrate. Let the magic begin!

Focusing on collaboration, this past September, the Department of Business, Tourism, Culture and Rural Development (BTCRD) partnered with ACOA, NLOWE and DFATD on an exciting supplier diversity trade activity at the 7th Annual Go for the Greens in Orlando, Florida.

Using supplier diversity and certification as a tool to enter international supply chains, Go for the Greens was identified as a premier event for NL companies to participate and seek growth opportunities. Four NL companies participated in the conference and availed of the business to business matchmaking with success.

Go for the Greens, along with their title sponsors UPS and Walt Disney Parks and Resorts and countless content expert speakers, brought a wealth of knowledge and opportunity to each and every delegate.  All delegates were invited to participate in a panel discussion, Strategic Alliances for Global Growth: Expanding Your Business Across the Border.  The message was positively received and recognition of Canada as a favorable export market was cemented.

This boutique supplier diversity business development conference was a perfect fit for NL companies as it builds on the trade development foundation that has already been laid over the past few years in the Florida market.  Supplier diversity is a strategic business process aimed at providing companies owned by minorities, in this case women owned businesses, an equal opportunity to become suppliers to major corporations across Canada, US and around the world.

Our host, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, says it best, “Diversity keeps us creative. Keeps us unique. Keeps us moving forward.” Let the Magic Continue!

The 8th annual Go for the Greens will take place in Orlando, Florida September 16-19, 2015. Stay tuned for further details in the new year, or for more information about women in business or supplier diversity, please contact Carolann Harding at 709-729-4617.
